The famous pornography comics, Hentai, is officially banned from entering Australia. Hentai is a type of Japanese manga where the characters are sexual and the plots include a lot of sex and nudity. The images are also designed to exude sex.
The country is labeling it as a source of child pornography and is banning all distribution of the comics. According to SA Best Upper House MP Connie Bonaros, “You have Astro Boy and Pokemon and in amongst all that material there are titles which clearly contain material that meets the definition of child exploitation material.”
They argued that most of the themes of the comic include rape, violence, incest, sexual abuse, and most importantly, involve the use of minors. The country has no tolerance for anything that supports and condones child pornography.

The Australian government is also banning sex toys, Japanese porn videos, anime figurines, and basically everything that has a label of ‘+18.’
J-List, an adult retailer from Japan, reported on their website that Australia’s Border Force and customs are denying entry of their products. Their products include: manga, cosplay, figurines, and sex toys.
Don’t even think that maybe you can ask a friend who’s coming home or visiting from Japan to bring these items for you, because bringing in these items to the country is also illegal. This can have you charged. Any items from computer games, comics, films, and even calendars with Hentai characters. Basically, anything that has any indication of child pornography, sex, nudity, drug misuse, addiction, crime, cruelty, bestiality, terrorist acts, etc. are considered banned.

“Experts that advocate against child exploitation have referred to this type of anime and manga as a gateway to the abuse of actual children,” Federal senator Stirling Griff said.
The Australia Classification Board is assessing comic book products into review with the discretion of the distributors. If any of these comics show any sign of Japanese Hentai and exploitation of children this will be banned. Any distributor or person who will be caught having these in possession will be charged and prosecuted.
Back in 2015, a man from Adelaide was caught possessing more than 300 child pornography classed anime images. He was sentenced to jail time. The man thought that he was just partaking in something fictional. He was just reading and taking part in a fantasy. But then the judge pointed out that that is a starting point in viewing actual child pornography.
They just want to avoid the possibility of turning these people who view Hentai that include child pornography into child exploiters. These might trigger them to do this act of molestation.
In conclusion, basically everything that is of adult content from Japan, or international Hentai distributors, will be banned from Australia because of the notion that these items, videos, etc. all condone child exploitation.
So to our Aussie fans, we’re sorry but no purchasing or viewing anything that can be monitored by your government just yet. It is sad to say but goodbye Hentai for now.
